Moruleng Mining boosts hardworking learners with funds
BURGERSFORT – After making a commitment to assist three of the local learners with their tuition fees , Moruleng Mining fulfilled their promise as they donated R75 000 to three learners from the local schools in Tubatse. The learners passed with flying colours in their 2017 matric exams.
The once-off bursary was handed last Wednesday at the Thaba Moshate Hotel, Casino and Convention Resort and was attended by business owners around Sekhukhune. Representatives from the Fetakgomo Tubatse Municipality were also in attendance.
The three learners are Ametti Mashaba from Manawe Secondary school at Maakubu, Happiness Mapalakane from Kanama High School at Ga Malepe and Class Mohlala from Phuti Nare Secondary school at Maandagshoek village. Each of the learners pocketed a whopping R25 000 which will assist them with their tertiary education this year.
In 2017, while handing over Copy & Data center at Maakubu village, owner of Moruleng Mining Emmanuel Makgokga indicated that he will donate funds to three of the top perfomer from the chosen schools.
Speaking at the event Fetakgomo Tubatse Municipality’s mayor Johannes Phokane wished the learners luck in their studies.
“We thank Moruleng Mining for caring and improving education in our area. We need our kids to learn and be educated. Our kids are the future of our country. We need an educated society and if they don’t go to school, they will become criminals, thus why we need to prioritize education in our country.”
The mayor added, “Businesses cannot run by illiterate people, we need more business owners to invest in education because the government cannot do it alone. Let us support our kids; I once more thank Moruleng Mining for the great donation they made to our kids.”
Phokane encouraged other businesses and mining companies to copy what Moruleng did and to invest in education.
Emanuel Makgoga the owner of Moruleng Mining advised the guests to do good things while they are still alive.
“Our kids need our support; we have to give them good education. This learners proved to me that they can do better than what they have achieved. I believe in them, I was inspired by their results I am openly handing over the money to change their lives for the better and pave an excellent future for them.
“Go and learn and please don’t do silly things with our money. Cherish what we have given you, study hard and obtain your qualification. Don’t engage yourself in alcohol and drugs. Always remember that education is the number one weapon to conquer the world,” he said.
Phutinare Principal Mr Phashe KH also applauded Moruleng for investing in the learners and the youth.
“This is an encouragement to other learners that there are business owners that value education. This will push them to put more effort in their studies.
He also thanked Moruleng Mining for what they did to the learners and congratulated the pupils for their sterling work.
The three learners told Sekhukhune Times that they will continue to work hard like they did in their matric.
“We are glad with the support from Moruleng, we will continue working hard to archive our goal which is to obtain our qualifications and to put Tubatse on the map,” they said.
