Local business owners host another successful tournament
MAMPHAHLANE – Entertainment was not hard to come by over the festive season as the Maandagshoek Annual Soccer Tournament was hosted for the fifth time in succession. Sixteen local soccer teams participated in the games.
The tourney which is arguably one of the best to be hosted in the Tubatse area, not only includes soccer. It also involves other sporting codes such as netball. The event was organized by Tumelo Maduana.
Amongst the sponsors was Dr Benny Choeu, Vision View, Peermont ( Thaba Moshate) , Mbonjomane were Platinum sponsors, other sponsors was Joxicom Pty Ltd, Kele Mining Solutions, Senatla Funeral Services, Lepudi Magabane and Platinum Print .
Premier Soccer League (PSL) outfit Baroka FC’s Coach Kgoloko Thobejane, was among the footballing scouts at the tourney. Representatives
from high riding Polokwane City FC were also in attendance.
Renowned actor Meshack Magabane was also among the dignitaries at the games.
Thobejane told Sekhukhune Times that he was happy with the football that was showcased at the tournament.
He picked the player of the tournament Kutullo Ponza Matsie to come and train with Bakgaga. “I was satisfied with his performance from the start of the tournament till the final,” Thobejane remarked.
As the player of the tournament, Matsie took home a R5000 voucher and a miniature trophy. Benny Choeu told this publication that they aimed at improving the lives of soccer players in Tubatse.
“We have an abundance of talent in our shores. The football displayed during the tourney was evidence that our boys have talent, We thank the support from the local communities and the sponsors in ensuring the tournament succeeded.”
Maandagshoek Annual Soccer Tournament for 2017 was won by Mamphahlane FC. They defeated Uniting Brothers 3-.1 in the finals. The third place was clinched by All for One. They walloped Balotsaneng 3-0.
In the net-balling category Driekop Academy vanquished by 18 points against Dangerous Divas who scored only 16. Sehlaku won 12-11 against Driekop Academy
in the netball junior rank competitions.
The winning soccer team Mamphahlane FC won a trophy, medals and R5000 winning price. Second place, Uniting Brothers received medals and R2500.00 cash while All for one FC got metals and R1500 for their efforts.
The net-balling teams were also rewarded. Driekop Academy went home with a trophy and R1500.00 cash. Dangerus Divas took home medals and R500.00 in cash. Sehlaku Divas also got metals and R500.
